“Simple” Italian Fare at Bar Sugo in Norwalk

Like all great stories, this one starts with a cocktail. As I sit down at the bar at Bar Sugo, the bartender takes a break from squeezing fresh limes to ask me what I’d like to drink. I briefly peruse the cocktail list, eyeing the list of contenders, before I select “My Grandfather’s Watch”—a concoction of Tito’s Vodka, St. George Green Chile Vodka, grapefruit liqueur, and that freshly squeezed lime juice. He quickly wipes the remnants of citrus pulp off his hands before whipping up a killer cocktail I down a little too easily. With one drink in and another [...]

All Taste, No Travel: Explore Street Food at El Segundo

There is no doubt the culinary world has been influenced by pop culture. As the Food Network became a household name, chefs’ profiles increased dramatically, shedding some serious light on the previously-mysterious activities of the back of the house. New restaurants popped up with windows into the kitchen, where diners get an inside look at the life of a professional food prep, the craziness of the Friday dinner rush fully exposed. Local chefs became mini-celebrities. The rise of social media has certainly helped things along. Encouraging collaborations from the restaurant next door, to the restaurant across the globe, chefs have [...]

The beer mecca is one of the only bars in Norwalk bound to have the Fuzzy Baby Ducks IPA, brewed by New England Brewing Co. out of Woodbridge, CT, on tap. And if you consider yourself a craft beer connoisseur, you’ll know just exactly how hard it is to get your hands on. When it comes to building the best [...]

Gourmet Ways to Give Back for Giving Tuesday {& Every Day}

With Thanksgiving behind us, I’m officially in the giving mood. And I’ll admit, I’ve been pretty inspired by local businesses around us. From Chutney Masala and Sambal Thai & Malaysian closing for Thanksgiving so their team can offer a hot meal to those in need at their sister restaurant, Old Monk, in NYC to Bonnie Saran and her collection of “Littles” offering a free Thanksgiving buffet to those in need right here in Westchester, it’s amazing to see how many local businesses are actively giving back to the community. Knowing my foodie friends as I do, I know you’ll also [...]

O’Neill’s: Irish Hospitality, Comfort Food & Perfect Pints

The last time I experienced Irish hospitality, I was in a small pub in Killarney, Ireland. On a bus tour navigating all of the must-see spots in the southern tip of the country, I was at the end of my week-long trip and tired of long hours on the bus. After unpacking at the hotel, my friends and I welcomed the chance to head out for dinner and drinks. One step out the door of the hotel, we headed towards the sound of laughter and bagpipes. The tunes and glee intertwined creating an intoxicating draw and the atmosphere inside the [...]
