Foodie Chat with Ellen from Penny Lick Ice Cream

by Katie Schlientz

Heavy cream. Sugar. Eggs. It’s hard to believe these simple ingredients make some of the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted, but when it comes to good food, there’s a lot of power in the basics (especially when they’re local). Sure, the old-fashioned-style custard Ellen Sledge uses to make Penny Lick Ice Cream isn’t low cal, but we’re talking a tasty frozen dessert here. Counting calories isn’t an option… Everything in moderation, right?
