Husdon Valley Restaurant Week runs March 9th to March 22nd, and I’ve encourage myself (and you!) to try some new restaurants and old favorites with an “IntoxiKate challenge.” I’m visiting seven restaurants during the “week” (really two!) the special is running. It’s been a while since I visited Harper’s Bar and Restaurant in Dobbs Ferry, so I put it on my list. And I was really glad I did!
Chef Chris Vergara was generous with the options and the portions on the #HVRW menu. It was the type of meal that left me wanting more—I waited as patiently as possible for each course, but I was riddled with anticipation. As the wait staff returned to the floor from the kitchen, hands full of plates, I secretly wished it was my next course.

First Course: Although it was hard to decide with items like smoked trout rillettes and Hudson Valley foie gras on the menu, I went with the duck liver toast, complete with marsala shallots and walnuts. My toast was a little on the charred side, but I couldn’t get enough of the duck live. Could’ve gotten a whole pint of that to go!

SECOND COURSE: This is THE dish I was most excited about, and Chef Vergara did not disappoint. The crispy Hudson Valley duck leg was served over a generous helping of white beans, pancetta, and caramelized onions.

THIRD COURSE: The salted caramel pot de créme combined sweet and salty with hazelnuts, sea salt and whipped cream.
