Celebrate International Chocolate Day in Westchester

July 7th is International Chocolate Day. If you’re looking to celebrate, there are plenty of options around Westchester to indulge in celebratory sweet treats (now, or any time the sweet tooth craving hits):

Iced Chocolate from Chocolations

There’s plenty of goodies to enjoy at the Mamaroneck gourmet chocolate shop. While you’re picking out truffles or their signature bark, sip on some iced chocolate. Think iced coffee, swap out the coffee for hot chocolate, and blend it all together for an iced cold smoothie. If you don’t mind the added calories, they’ll top it off with whipped cream and a little chocolate drizzle. Yum!

Salted Caramel Stuffed Brownies from Sherry B Dessert Studio

If you’re like me, you like a little salt with your sweet, and executive pastry chef and owner Sherry Blockinger gets this delicate combo right. These salted caramel brownies are made in-house from scratch. They are decadent and rich, but you’ll be more than capable to polish off one (or two!).

Get your sweet fix on! Save the date: July 23rd, IntoxiKate is hosting a cocktail party at Leiberts Royal Green Appliance Center featuring Chocolations, Penny Lick Ice Cream, and Biscotina paired with dessert wines from Vino 100.

Poppy Seed Chocolate Babka Coffee Ice Cream from Moderne Barn

Ok, so when you think Moderne Barn, dessert probably isn’t the first thing that comes in mind. (I’m thinking fish tacos and one incredible pork chop). But executive chef Ethan Kostbar can do way more than savory, and he proves it with dessert offerings like this ice cream treat.

The Budino from Polpettina

I. Can’t. Deal. Whenever I visit this “Little Meatball” of a pizzeria, it’s time for some serious indulging. After the pizza and crispy eggplant chips are out of the way, the little Budino slides across the table, promising peanut butter, salted peanuts, and some serious chocolate ganache. Oh my!

Chocolate Sour Cherry Scone from City Limits Diner

Pastry Chef Tracy Kamperdyk Assue has some serious sugary talent—I learned first hand when I met her in the studio during Fork This with IntoxiKate. She’s got two desserts competing for your affliction on the menu—while the chocolate cream coconut pie (pictured above) is hard to compete with, the chocolate sour cherry scone peaks my interest!
