Photo Recap: The FarmOn Foundation’s Hootenanny

Last weekend, I headed up to Copake, NY, for the FarmOn! Foundation's Hootenanny, a dinner benefitting local Hudson Valley farms, and showcasing the products and produce from the area. With Chef Jean-George Vongerichten cooking up in the kitchen—using vegetables, fruits, meats and dairy from minutes away—we ate elbow to elbow with farming families who make an unbelievable contribution to our community. As the FarmOn! tagline says, if you ate today, thank a farmer! The big top tent at the (gorgeous!) Copake Country Club and The Greens Restaurant at the FarmOn Foundation's Hootenanny dinner. On Air With Lisa Wexler

After eating my way through the farmer's market at Westchester's Ridge Hill in Yonkers, I had the pleasure of being a guest on the Lisa Wexler Show, 1230 AM WFAS. Before going on air, I talked to some of the vendors, and came up with some easy dinner combos to recommend to Lisa. We talked many things, including food, new restaurants in Westchester and upcoming events. Restaurants mentioned included: Moderne Barn (upcoming Beer and Barnacles event), Fortina (new Westchester hot spot), and Village Social (singles scene). Tune in next Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. to listen to The Lisa Wexler Show. You never know [...]

Garcia’s: Rock’n’Space in Port Chester

If you're looking to throw a party like a rock star, why not choose a venue named after one? The Port Chester's Capitol Theatre recently opened Garcia's (named after the Grateful Dead singer), a space perfect for live music, dancing and drinks. The long bar is home to craft beers, wines and spirits, several locally produced. Think music. Think energy. Think rock'n'roll. The first bar opened in partnership with the rocker's family, Garcia's makes several nods to its namesake—photos and artwork of Jerry Garcia are displayed on the exposed brick walls. It's even possible to shake Jerry's hand by way [...]
