Support Local Businesses Affected by the Tappan Zee Bridge Demolition Postponement

Restaurants with riverviews—Pier 701 Restaurant & Bar, Rivertown Taphouse, The View on the Hudson, Sambal Thai & Malay, Half Moon, and Hudson Farmer & the Fish—worked very hard this week to create community events commemorating the history—the Tappan Zee Bridge demolition. With many locations quickly filling up with reservations, ingredients were ordered and food was prepped. This afternoon, the construction company behind the demolition of the bridge made an announcement they were postponing demolition due to 'high winds' Saturday morning. A new announcement is scheduled for tomorrow, announcing the new date. The postponed destruction of the bridge affects our small [...]

Sustainable Coffee (and news!) from Coffee Labs Roasters

When I moved to Sleepy Hollow several years ago, I walked every evening down by the river, eventually making my way up the ginormous hill in Tarrytown. I will always have love for the river towns—there, I feel a sense of community I haven't experienced in other towns in Westchester. It's not just about being friendly to your neighbor; here, everyone seems to have a deep appreciation for the environment, local businesses, and the town. But my walks were filled with hellos, people watching, and (of course!) playful pups. It may have been my love for dogs, the appreciation for [...]

July 11th: Big Brew NY Promo Code

The Fourth of July festivities have died down. You have a post-holiday hangover from the sugary, patriotic cocktails, and you are completely hot-dogged and hamburgered out. I get it. While I partied with some pretty fantastic people in the Poconos this weekend, I am suffering from all of the above. But what I’m really not happy about is the selection of beer we had on tap. The local beer barn closed (unbeknownst to me), and instead I was stuck with a generic beer in my hand at the beach, longing for an ice cold glass of something, well, more unique. [...]

Poolside Party at The Castle Hotel & Spa

Are you ready for THE party of the summer? Last year’s IntoxiKate poolside party was well-attended AND incredibly fun (photo recap here). When the folks at The Castle Hotel & Spa reached out to me to host another Poolside Summer Pairing Series this year, I couldn’t say no! {I mean, who would?!?} June 25th, IntoxiKate and the Westchester #FoodieNation will kick off The Castle Hotel & Spa’s Poolside Summer Pairing Series. The event occurs every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and every event features a new beverage vendor to supply drinks for guests. At the IntoxiKate event, passed appetizers [...]

Event Recap: IntoxiKate Poolside Party at the Castle Hotel & Spa

It was a perfect evening... As I drove up to the Castle Hotel & Spa—one of Tarrytown's hidden gems—there wasn't a could in the sky. As James and Brittney, the friendly staff behind the event, brought me down to the grotto, I couldn't believe my eyes. I've been on the property several times to enjoy at meal at Equus, but I had no idea there was a pool on site. And a beautiful pool it was... Pairing up with Spiked Seltzer {an IntoxiKate fav!} for the event, members of the Westchester #FoodieNation enjoyed a magical evening. The photo recap is [...]

Cellar 49 Features New Seasonal Dishes

During my last visit to Cellar 49, I wolfed down a cowboy steak that pretty much took up the entire table. Okay, maybe it wasn't THAT big, but admitting to also eating a flatbread pizza, burrata salad and several other dishes would only reveal my gluttonous side. But the dishes all had one thing in common—they were heavy dishes. Perfect comfort foods to offset the bitter cold temperatures accompanying. Now that the temps are turning in the opposite direction, I'm looking for a few more lighter dishes. (Okay, who am I kidding?!? Have to feed the #foodbaby, but I AM [...]

Tarrytown’s RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen

A small, circular white plate sits in front of me. Sliced radishes, a handful of fava beans, and tomatoes sit atop a bed of bib lettuce. Small, homemade potato "chips" add crunch, offsetting the perfectly placed mound of burrata—the piece de résistance! One slice in, and the creamy cheese spills out it's gooey center. While we're just on the cusp of spring, the tomatoes taste like summer sun. More, please! The open of RiverMarket's Bar & Kitchen was long awaited, but well worth the wait. The Tarrytown eatery is housed in the ever-growing Hudson Harbor complex, sandwiched between the train [...]
