Third Annual “IntoxiKate’s Eating for Orange” during Hunger Action Month

Kate Schlientz teams up with Feeding Westchester and 30+ Restaurants to take a bite out of hunger during IntoxiKate’s Eating for Orange, the month-long event this September.

Go orange this September by enjoying orange-flavored and orange-colored dishes at your favorite eateries! The third annual IntoxiKate’s Eating for Orange starts September 1st with 30+ restaurants collaborating on their social media platforms for one goal—to raise awareness and educate the community on the 200,000 people in Westchester County who are hungry or food insecure.

Restaurants from Yonkers to Chappaqua to Port Chester and beyond participate by selecting an orange dish off their menu or by creating a special orange dish for September. They then post this dish on their social media platforms, to help educate their followers about Feeding Westchester’s mission and providing information on how they can help.

This year, Schlientz is also engaging diners to get involved. For every food photograph posted at a participating Eating for Orange restaurant, she will donate $1 up to $500 for the month. Diners simply must tag @FeedingWestchester and @IntoxiKateFoodie.

“This is the only collaborative, county-wide marketing initiative to help raise awareness about all of the amazing ways you can help Feeding Westchester,” Schlientz says. “Feeding Westchester is my heart charity. I am honored to help them, and I am extremely grateful to all of my restaurant friends who are so willing to help their community.”

Schlientz cooked up the month-long event along with Feeding Westchester, the county’s leading nonprofit hunger-relief organization in 2017. Foodies can feast on a range of orange-inspired dishes whipped up by our area’s top chefs—from seasonal staples to gluten-free and vegetarian options, in both sweet and savory categories.

Feeding Westchester President and CEO Leslie Gordon says, “We love when people bring us their best ideas. Kate came to us with this unique concept and we ran with it. It’s all about collaborating with the community where we are trying to make a difference.”

“This month is really focused on hunger awareness and creating a dialogue,” Schlientz said. “What better way to have a conversation than over great food?”

Those hungry to help are asked to visit participating restaurants, try the orange-themed dishes, and help spread awareness by sharing their experience on social media using the following tags: @FeedingWestchester @IntoxiKateFoodie #eatingfororange #hungeractionmonth.
