Announcing the Winners of The V.I.Pizette Contest

Last month, Carla Gambescia of Via Vanti! (Mount Kisco) and StacyKnows asked foodies to put on their thinking caps to come up with the newest pizette flavor. The V.I.Pizette contest drew to to an end this week, with the announcement of the “culinary mentalists” who came up with the best (and most tasty) options:

Congratulations to the  HONORABLE MENTION award recipients, each to receive complimentary pizzette and gelato coupons:

• Lori D’Amado of Bedford Corners for her entry featuring baked apples, raisins, candied walnuts, blue cheese, honey and fresh arugula

• Sheri Hametz of Mount Kisco for her entry featuring roasted shaved brussels sprouts, red onions, lemon zest, walnuts, Parmesan and fresh ground black pepper

• John Robards of Bedford Corners for his entry featuring manchego cheese, chorizo, wine poached figs and a white truffle oil drizzle

We also have two RUNNER-UP award recipients, each to receive a $25 Via Vanti! gift card and John Mariani’s witty and informative book. How Italian Food Conquered the World:

• Donna Vena of Mount Kisco for her entry featuring an under layer of fig puree, goat cheese, roasted pears and smoked bacon with baby arugula on top

• Julie Ellen Sherman of Mount Kisco for her entry featuring roasted sweet potatoes sliced paper-thin, caramelized red onions, sauteed kale, fresh garlic, toasted pine nuts and a drizzle of pure maple syrup.

Congratulations to the WINNER who receives a $100 Via Vanti! gift card, the Mariani book, and naming honors for the winning entry:LESLIE HINDERSTEIN of Chappaqua for her dessert pizzette featuring marscapone, caramelized pears, toasted pistachios, almonds and coconut, crumbled ginger snaps, and a scoop of our Lemon Mousse Gelato.  YUM!  Leslie’s creation will henceforth be known as Leslie’s Limonbella pizzette!
