Gelato Dinner

I don’t condone dessert for dinner. I really don’t. Meals should be a healthy portion on your meat and veggies. Really.

But with the heat and humidity we’re having, it’s hard to find the motivation to cook when my kitchen already feels like an oven. So last night, I treated myself. Well, really Operation Prom founder Noel D’Allacco treated (and introduced me) to gelato in Eastchester.

Pane and Gelato offers pastries and gelatos straight from Sicily (or at least made with Sicilian ingredients). With 24 flavors to choose from, it was hard to narrow the selection down. But I skipped the chocolate, mint, and coffee flavors, and finally settled on the Nutella—the creamy gelato was almost as good as the real thing. The hazelnut flavor is still lingered until late last night, but in a satisfying way.

I was also impressed by the amount of seating the space offered. With most frozen yogurt and ice cream places short on space, it’s usually hard to find a seat to enjoy your dessert. But Pane and Gelato had plenty of seating available, with several small groups taking advantage of the sweet treat (and air conditioning!).

IntoxiKate Tip:

Stick to the small! I’m not generally one to limit other’s sugar indulgences, but a small cup is more than enough to satisfy even the biggest sweet tooth.
