Westchester has so many great bakeries that driving across the county in search of the best cupcake or macaroon is a delicious indulgence that has turned into our family pastime. If you’re looking for where to stop by for the best confections which are a treat to all your senses here is my Westchester bakery guide. Let’s begin to think sweet.

Lulu Cake Boutique, Scarsdale

This is the ultimate bakery for your special cake. It is the perfect blend of their smooth butter cream that will keep you wanting more. The specialized cake decorators can create any design with exquisite artistry. Form tasting, to discussing the design and flavors, ordering a cake from Lulu is an experience that you will cherish. La Tulipe Desserts, Mout Kisco

A European style pattiserie that creates desserts that look as good as they taste has been a Westchester staple for more than a decade. Scouring the best ingredients and blending the right flavors is what helps to create unforgettable desserts at La Tulipe. With the cozy appearance of a storybook cottage, the store offers a wide selection of goodies. The macaroons which are available in at least a half dozen flavors on any give day, will undoubtedly transport you to the cobbled streets of Paris. They also create beautiful cakes with unique combinations of sweet and tangy flavors. If you are looking for a cake that noone has tried before La Tulipe will offer you many possibilities. They also have mini 2.5” versions that are ideal for children’s parties.

Enrico’s Pastry Shop, Hartsdale

Enrico’s is a kosher Italian bakery that is a nod to the ethnic diversity in Westchester. Italian staples such as cannoli and sfogliatelle along with many flavors of challah bread are a few of their specialties.  The bakery is open every day of the week and offers a variety of cakes, pies and pastries with a homemade touch. Enrico’s was also one of the first Westchester bakeries to create the “cronie” a cronut with their own spin. At least a half a dozen flavors such as pistachio, raspberry, nutella, peanut butter and jelly are avilable on any given day.

Sweet & Social, Larchmont

This neighborhood bakery owned by Larchmont resident has revived the cupcake that has outlived the New York City fad. Featuring dozens of original flavors with creative names such as “Nutty Buddy”, “Chatty Chocolate” and “Tweet and Salty” along with seasonal favorites this has become the cupcake hub of Westchester. The cupcakes designs are as inventive and mouth watering as the names suggest. They also take custom orders for cake pops, which can great addition to a sweets table or a tasty party favor.

Jean Jacques, Pleasantville

Founded by the eponymous French chef, Jean Jacques is a great place to meet up for coffee and dessert or for made to order breakfast at any time of the day. The sweet and savory offerings including quiche, croissants, cakes and pastries will give you a flavor of a French Café without having to cross the Atlantic. You can enjoy a casual brunch here or pick up a few items to enhance a celebration at home. A delicious quiche or a signature box of mini pastries will be lovely addition for any special occasion.
