Westchester Magazine‘s Wine and Food Festival ended with a culinary showcase last week, as the Grand Tasting kicked off at the Kensico Dam Plaza. The grand finale (so to speak) featured over 40 local restaurants, as well as farmers market vendors, ice cold brews, and an extensive wine tasting. The highlights of the day are recapped below, and additional photos are up on the IntoxiKate: Living Life Deliciously Facebook page.
RiverMarket Bar and Kitchen (Tarrytown) was clearly inspired by local, seasonal ingredients, offering this beautiful goat cheese salad that (almost!) looked too pretty to eat. One bite, and I got over that pretty quick. View the IntoxiKate article on RiverMarket.
Great food keeps traveling north! One of the most talked about dishes of the event–the chicken fried rabbit and waffles served over kale and smothered in gravy from Clock Tower Grill in Brewster.
Always the host with the most, Chef Peter Kelly sent around miniature lemon drop martinis made with his signature Slovenia vodka (check out the IntoxiKate Cucumber Melon Cooler recipe here) for both guests and restaurateurs to enjoy.
Crabtree’s Kittle House focused on local ingredients as well, offering a house-smoked Beaverkill trout with Dancing Dog Farm kale, banatka wheat and fresh horseradish.
Wine wasn’t the only thing flowing during the Wine and Food Festival—Mitch from Half Time Beverage (Mamaroneck) pours the perfect (plastic) pint of Blue Moon‘s seasonal brew. If you’re a beer lover, you can find Mitch at Big Brew NY at the Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown on July 11th. {Code “IntoxiKate” saves you $10 off your ticket.}
The Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway offered a few dishes to sample, including this delish farmer’s terrine with chicken liver mousse and microgreens. (Have you tried Dan Rooney’s at the casino?)
