Hudson Valley Restaurant Week: 105-Ten Bar & Grill

Just before the start of restaurant week, Executive Chef Eddis Martinez swung by the WFAS studio to chat all things Hudson Valley Restaurant Week (#HVRW). While he was listening to my monologue in the first few minutes of the show, he created his restaurant week menu. Once he revealed that in the interview, I couldn’t help but visit his restaurant, 105-Ten Bar & Grill, to see what he came up with (and to see if anything I mentioned helped inspire him!).

My first time at 105-Ten, I headed there for lunch and was pleased to see that the Briarcliff Manor bar and grill was hopping. With not a lot of restaurant options in the area, it was clear the place has quickly evolved into a neighborhood favorite; most diners were friendly with each other, exchanging hellos.

I took a look at the HVRW menu online before I headed in, and was surprised to find this dish on the copy of the lunch menu ($20.95) I received in house. I selected the fried avocado with chipotle and mango salsa. When placed in front of me, I almost mistook the dish as fried pickle spears. When bite, and the creamy avocado flavor came through. I only wish the dish was plated differently; the components worked well together with the smoky kick of the chipotle and the sweet mango, but it was hard to get a bite of everything at once.

105-Ten Bar and GrillThe pork belly lettuce wraps were my main course, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them! Chef Martinez discussed the dish in great deal on the show, and it left my mouth watering. The saltiness of the pork belly worked well with the pickled vegetable slaw, and the bib lettuce served as a strong holder for the goodness inside.

I’m glad I checked the restaurant out during #HVRW, but I would definitely like to return to try some of the 105-Ten Bar & Grill favorites I heard so much about before going. The lobster grilled cheese ($18), tuna tacos ($17), and braised short ribs ($20) all looked delish on paper and were highly recommended.
