Hudson Valley Restaurant Week (#HVRW) is a great opportunity to not only visit new eateries, but also some favorites. I love the energy at Cedar Street Grill. The entire staff—from Chef Matt Kay and his ‘spirited’ brother (and co-owner) Joe to Jimmy, the server who helped us make our selections for the evening—is always professional and friendly, but also very personable and fun.
A bunch of my girlfriends and I went on a Wednesday—trust me, with these Men(u) Crave, they needed no convincing—to also partake in the $1 oyster special running every week.
Now I mentioned that Joe Kay was ‘spirited’ before, and that’s because this mega-mixologist has yet to make a cocktail I don’t like. The “ready, aim, fire” (picture above) was a quick sneak peek at one of the new spring drinks available at the bar. (Can’t wait for the entire preview!)
I couldn’t pick between two of my Cedar Street favorites for the first course, so I talked one of my dining partners into splitting them with me. First up, the beer-battered fried pickles, served with a roasted pepper remoulade (regularly $8) which did not disappoint!
Chef Matt also makes these ridiculously amazing roasted Brussels sprouts with almonds and bacon that I pretty much can’t live without, so these certainly didn’t go to waste (regularly $9).
I’ve been on the hunt for the best fried chicken in Westchester, and Cedar Street Grill has a strong competitor with their buttermilk battered chicken served with lemon, herbs, and a killer Siracha maple syrup (a pretty sweet kick!).
