It’s not every day you get the invite into a chef’s kitchen. Roasting vegetables with Chef Jay Lippin at Crabtree’s Kittle House… Staring into Chef Christian Petroni’s eyes as you fry up some meatballs at Fortina… Decorating cupcakes with The Cupcake Kitchen’s Jennifer O’Connell… Well, now you can.

Westchester Community College (WCC) will be offering cooking classes in several local restaurants starting next month in their “Taste of Westchester” series. These reasonably-priced classes not only offer a glimpse of some of the best chefs in their element, but also give you a chance to create (and taste!) the food on your own.

Organized by contributing Small Bites blogger Donna Monaco Olsen (look for her ‘Chef’s Tip’ column), these classes range in both cuisine and technique.  Classes, offered in the evenings, run until mid-December, giving you plenty of time to catch a few. Restaurants involved include:

  • La Catena Italian Restaurant
  • The Chophouse Grille
  • Sonora
  • Crabtree’s Kittle House Restaurant & Inn
  • Don Coqui
  • Elia Taverna
