Music, Country Fair Bacon, and Peaches in Norwalk

When I think about peaches, I think about wrapping my hand around something soft and fuzzy, pulling the small fruit off its perch from one of my dad's trees. It's a nostalgic moment—definitely summer, and I can almost feel the juice run down my chin as I take a bite. Refreshing. When it comes to Peaches Southern Pub & Juke Joint, I'm not thinking soft and fuzzy, but I am thinking refreshing. Here, my tastebuds aren't getting the same effect as sinking my teeth into a ripe peach, but I will admit, the collaboration between owner Greer Fredericks and executive [...]

Southern Comfort Brunch: Judy’s Bar + Kitchen Stamford

Misconceptions can be everything with food. And I, of all people, should know better. Normally I'd tout that you can't get southern food like you can in the South. I'd also be bold enough to say I'm not a huge breakfast fan—savory is my thing and I usually find too many sweets on morning menus. But Chef Judith Roll, of Judy's Bar + Kitchen in Stamford, may have convinced me otherwise on both accounts. Greeting you on the table are some tradition Southern breads to start you salivating—small portions of corn bread and bite-sized cheesy biscuits in small, stainless steel colanders [...]

Food Philosophy with Chef Christian Petroni

But the creator behind Fortina took a pause the laughs to have a heart to heart about where our food comes from during this year’s Greenwich Wine & Food Festival. While I love Christian’s sense of humor, the five minutes  he took to talk about his food philosophy was refreshing and empowering. “This is the way we [...]

Walk-Away Wednesdays at Watson’s

There are days I like to go out to dinner and then there are evenings I prefer to come home and cook. Baked Apples Recipe from Judy & Joy

Last week, things got a little uncharacteristically emotional on Fork This with IntoxiKate. Guests Judy Vig and Joy Paoletti (aka Judy & Joy), identical twins who are self-taught Italian American cooks and cookbook authors, popped on the show to promote a campaign near and dear to their hearts—Breast Cancer Awareness. The duo has a unique approach to cooking and life—Judy recently celebrated her third year of being a breast cancer survivor—and their recipes are created two ways: traditionally, and with a twist. The ‘traditional’ way is prepared by Joy and the ‘healthy’ twist created by Judy.  I immediately fell in love with [...]

The Connecticut Farm Table Cookbook Recipe: Low Country Bouillabaisse

If you’ve tuned into Fork This with IntoxiKate or if you are a member of the #FoodieNation, you know there are a few things that are near and dear to my heart: supporting local business; farms; and trying new seasonal recipes. When a cookbook came across my desk featuring all three, I couldn’t wait to talk The Connecticut Farm Table Cookbook with co-author Christy Colasurdo (Tracey Medeiros completes the duo). Colasurdo swung by the WGCH studio yesterday to discuss the 150 seasonal recipes from the state’s top chefs and farmers. The stunning photography showcases the food and the recipes are paired with profiles [...]
