Enjoy a Staycation at the Hyatt House in White Plains

by Katie Schlientz

It’s no secret I enjoy sharing what I love. Whether it’s a post on the site, interviewing a chef on Fork This with IntoxiKate (NOW broadcasting 12-1 p.m. on AM 1230 WFAS), or sharing a little social love on Instagram, I can’t help but pass along a great dish or experience. Restaurant recommendations: it’s what I do.

So when the Hyatt House in White Plains asked me to pass along recommendations for their guests, I couldn’t say no. While it was tough to narrow down the list of restaurants I could list for a little night out on the town, I was also asked to provide a few shopping and attraction recommendations as well. Thinking about the Hyatt House clientele, and also considering both the business and family-oriented guests, I came up with the following options (with a few IntoxiKate tips to boot):

FOOD & DRINK

42 The Restaurant
IntoxiKate Tip: Make your reservations in advance to pair your dinner with the spectacular sunset.
1 Renaissance Square, White Plains, 914-761-4242, www.42TheRestaurant.com

Wolfert’s Roost
IntoxiKate Tip: Make sure to hit the wine store before you head out—The Roost is BYOB.
100 Main St., Irvington, 914-231-7576, www.wolfertsroostirv.com

Fig & Olive
IntoxiKate Tip: If you’re visiting Sunday through Thursday, a prix fixe dinner is available for $35 per person, offering delicious options from their seasonal menu.
696 White Plains Rd., Scarsdale, 914-725-2900, www.figandolive.com

L’Inizio
IntoxiKate Tip: L’inizio also gets creative with their cocktail list—the “Barrels & Bites” menu features spirits aged (and sometimes infused with flavors) in American charred oak barrels for two weeks. Pair the octopus salad with the spicy basil margarita!
698 Saw Mill River Rd., Ardsley, 914-693-5400, www.liniziony.com

Hastings Tea
IntoxiKate Tip: Experience a little jet lag? Try a cup of the herbal spicy mint tea. The herbal blend is excellent for headaches, fights fatigue and stress, and helps with digestive problems.
235 Main St., White Plains, 914-428-1000, www.hastingstea.com

SHOPPING

Kensico Soap Bar
IntoxiKate Tip: The “Breakfast Bar” olive oil soap leaves skin feeling silky smooth and smells good enough to eat (but  would advise against it!).
660 Columbus Ave., Thornwood, 914-579-2033, www.kensicosoapbar.com

Chocolations
IntoxiKate Tip: Picking up chocolate as a gift? Simply ask Maria to wrap it for you!
Chocolations: 607 East Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, 914-777-3600, www.chocolations.com

Weezie D
