This past Tuesday, personal chef, owner of Bella Cucina Maria, and my friend, Maria Falck Reina swung by the WGCH studio. The “seasonal chef” has a great collection of information and recipes currently on LoHud Food, offering tips to get the most out of those summer tomatoes.
Back to school is coming.
If you’re a parent with elementary and middle school-aged children, you have a lot on your mind: back to school shopping, school supplies, and (of course!) the busy fall meal schedule. If prepping those weekday dinners between school meetings, team practices, and late night evenings at the offices isn’t stressful enough, in the AM you have the challenge of packing those school lunches. Will they eat it? Are they trading that apple for fruit snacks? What are they serving in the cafeteria?
Watermelon is one of my favorite fruits—it’s a great source of Vitamins A and C, potassium, and antioxidants. But this juicy fruit is also a refreshing break from the hot and humid temps we’re set to experience this weekend. Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue or just looking for a way to keep cool, try this easy watermelon summer salad I shared with News 12 Connecticut‘s Ali Warshavsky. The written recipe is also below!
Last night, Moffly Media hosted the Best of Greenwich Party at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor. It was a beautiful evening on the harbor, and the event featured the best Greenwich has to offer, including some really fabulous food. The event recap in photos is below…
Last week, I swung by the News 12 Connecticut to offer quick cooking tips with news anchor Ali Warshavsky—who, I have to say, is just as cute in person as on air. While I have more videos to come, this segment features a quick and easy way to preserve fresh herbs.

July 23rd, I teamed up with Leiberts Royal Green Appliance Center to host the second installment of the Chef Series. Our Sweet Cocktail Party certainly put the happy back in happy hour, as we paired red and wine Sweet Melissa Wine from Vino 100 with locally made desserts from Penny Lick Ice Cream, The Dessertist, Biscotina and Chocolations.
Over 100 guests gathered to indulge in sweets, and entered to win prizes from Leiberts, Vino 100 and Dacor. The Dacor wine preservation unit was also on display.
IntoxiKate.com received the Best Lifestyle Blog award for the second year in a row by the readers of Westchester Magazine. Last year, I had a lot of fun bopping around taking “Intoxigrams,” photos of the event post on Instagram. This year I had to top it, giving away “foodie fortunes:” a food quote paired with a fortune. Within the IntoxiKate deck of cards, other fortunes were also hidden—over $700 worth of gift cards from fellow Best of Westchester winners.
Ladies and gents, there’s a new happy hour in White Plains. Well, it may not be “new” per se, but if it isn’t already on your radar, it should be!
When I was invited to check out the White Plains Crowne Plaza‘s restaurant, the Mix Cocktail Bar + Kitchen, it was originally focused to check out their dessert menus. But what I found was a whole host of delicious food, served in a hip bar paired with staff who are not only knowledgable about the food, but passionate about it too.
While you can visit the Mix anytime—and no, you don’t have to be a guest at the hotel—the happy hour officially has my attention. The “hour” runs from 4 to 7 p.m. daily and hosts business professionals—a little bit different than the Mamaroneck Avenue neighborhood joints. Beverage deals, like their desserts, are pretty sweet; expect to pay $4 for draught beers, $5 for glasses of Caliterra wines, $6 for house brand mixed drinks (Tito’s, Jose Cuervo), and $8 for house brand cocktails including martinis, Manhattans and cosmos.
This year, I partnered up with Leiberts Royal Green Appliance Center in White Plains. In May, we hosted their first chef series, offering amazing pizza from Polpettina cooked fresh on the new Lynx outdoor pizza oven. This month, we’re taking a quick break from the chef series to host a summer cocktail party.
While we of course could put together a killer cheese and charcuterie tray to go with the wine, we decided to switch it up, offering you a little “sweetness” this summer.
Swing by Leiberts Royal Green Thursday, July 23rd for a sweet cocktail party featuring goodies from Chocolations, Penny Lick Ice Cream, The Dessertist, and Biscotina, paired with dessert wines from Vino 100. {Check out photos below!} The party starts at 6 p.m. and also includes a live broadcast of Fork This with IntoxiKate. Make sure you’re on the RSVP list {see below!}.

This past Saturday, beer lovers gathered at the Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown for Big Brew NY to enjoy tasting some of the best craft brews on the market. This was the first time the festival was held outside, and offered a few new features—music, a mechanical bull, and several food vendors including Handsome Devil, Ma & Pa’s Tex Mex BBQ, DeCicco’s & Sons, and Kath’s Catering. The photo gallery is below.
