New York City has plenty to offer when it comes to food, events, and history. We’ve got a mecca of culture in our own backyard and sometimes I feel I don’t take advantage of what’s here—both in the city and in the county. I’ve challenged myself to experience a little wanderlust. First up? A NYC Chocolate Tour, courtesy of Great New York Tours.
If you’ve tuned into Fork This with IntoxiKate or if you are a member of the #FoodieNation, you know there are a few things that are near and dear to my heart: supporting local business; farms; and trying new seasonal recipes. When a cookbook came across my desk featuring all three, I couldn’t wait to talk The Connecticut Farm Table Cookbook with co-author Christy Colasurdo (Tracey Medeiros completes the duo).
Colasurdo swung by the WGCH studio yesterday to discuss the 150 seasonal recipes from the state’s top chefs and farmers. The stunning photography showcases the food and the recipes are paired with profiles of all the participants. It’s a cookbook I’m really excited about, and can’t wait to bring to my next visit to the farmers market.
The Fourth of July festivities have died down. You have a post-holiday hangover from the sugary, patriotic cocktails, and you are completely hot-dogged and hamburgered out. I get it.
While I partied with some pretty fantastic people in the Poconos this weekend, I am suffering from all of the above. But what I’m really not happy about is the selection of beer we had on tap. The local beer barn closed (unbeknownst to me), and instead I was stuck with a generic beer in my hand at the beach, longing for an ice cold glass of something, well, more unique. Lesson most certainly learned—I should’ve swung by one of my my local favorites to pick up a small keg. And then I remembered, all is not lost… Big Brew NY is Saturday.
I am pleased to announce IntoxiKate.com was voted Best Lifestyle Website in Westchester by the readers of Westchester Magazine for the second year in a row. I’m extremely humbled by the award, and want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who voted and visits the website!
June 25th, members of the Westchester #FoodieNation gathered poolside at the Castle Hotel and Spa in Tarrytown to enjoy passed appetizers from Equus Restaurant and Spiked Seltzer. The photo recap is below:
While IntoxiKate.com was created out of a love {okay, maybe small obsession} with food, the tagline “Living Life Deliciously” was meant to mirror the way I approach life: enjoying every single moment— whether that be a meal, event, or experience. I also wanted to leave the option open to share these moments with you, so you can also take advantage of the best Westchester has to offer. This is a sharable moment…
Are you ready for THE party of the summer?
Last year’s IntoxiKate poolside party was well-attended AND incredibly fun (photo recap here). When the folks at The Castle Hotel & Spa reached out to me to host another Poolside Summer Pairing Series this year, I couldn’t say no! {I mean, who would?!?}
June 25th, IntoxiKate and the Westchester #FoodieNation will kick off The Castle Hotel & Spa’s Poolside Summer Pairing Series. The event occurs every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and every event features a new beverage vendor to supply drinks for guests. At the IntoxiKate event, passed appetizers from Equus Restaurant (menu below) will be paired with IntoxiKate favorite Spiked Seltzer.
Westchester Magazine‘s Wine and Food Festival ended with a culinary showcase last week, as the Grand Tasting kicked off at the Kensico Dam Plaza. The grand finale (so to speak) featured over 40 local restaurants, as well as farmers market vendors, ice cold brews, and an extensive wine tasting. The highlights of the day are recapped below, and additional photos are up on the IntoxiKate: Living Life Deliciously Facebook page.
June 4th, over 30 restaurants gathered at the Kensico Dam Plaza to serve up the best thing between a bun at the Burger and Beer Blast, part of Westchester Magazine‘s Wine and Food Festival.
